Why One Revision Round Exists
The one-revision rule is not a limitation imposed to save us work. It is a structured process designed to produce the best possible result for you, efficiently and fairly.
Here is the context: at any given time, our editing team is working on dozens of weddings simultaneously. Each project receives dedicated attention during its editing window. When your project reaches the revision stage, our editors pause other work to prioritise your changes. This is a significant allocation of resources that we extend to every client equally.
An open-ended revision process — where clients can request unlimited changes over weeks or months — would make it impossible for us to maintain fair turnaround times for any client. One structured round, with clear communication and specific feedback, consistently produces the best outcomes.
How the Process Works
Step 1: Delivery
Your photographs or wedding film are delivered via a secure online link. You will receive a notification with your download link and clear instructions.
Step 2: Review
You have 14 days to review your delivered work thoroughly. We recommend:
- Downloading all files immediately upon receipt
- Reviewing your gallery or film on a calibrated screen (not just a phone)
- Making notes on specific images or sections that need attention
- Compiling all feedback into a single, comprehensive written document
Step 3: Submit Your Revision Request
Send your feedback in writing — email is preferred — within the 14-day window. Your request should be:
- Specific: Reference individual images by number or timestamp sections in your film
- Actionable: Describe the change you want, not just what you dislike
- Consolidated: Submit all changes in one communication, not in drips over several days
Step 4: Revision Work
Our editing team processes your revision request. The typical turnaround for a revision round is 7 to 14 working days, depending on the scope and our current production schedule.
Step 5: Delivery of Revised Work
Your updated files are delivered via a new secure link. The 14-day download window resets from the date the revised files are sent.
What Constitutes a Valid Revision Request
Clear feedback leads to precise revisions. Vague feedback leads to guesswork, dissatisfaction, and wasted time for both parties. Here is a practical guide:
Valid Requests (Specific and Actionable)
- "Please crop image #47 to remove the exit sign visible on the left edge."
- "Images 112 through 118 appear slightly underexposed. Could the brightness be increased?"
- "The ceremony section of the highlight film (1:23 to 2:45) feels rushed. Could the pacing be slowed slightly?"
- "Image #203 has a guest's arm blocking the couple. Can this be removed or can you substitute a different frame from the same moment?"
- "The colour temperature on the outdoor portraits (images 78-95) feels too warm. Could these be cooled slightly?"
These are requests our editors can act on immediately, with precision.
Invalid or Out-of-Scope Requests
- "I do not like the overall feel. Can you redo them?" — This is too vague to be actionable.
- "Can you make them look like [another photographer's Instagram]?" — This is a style change, not a revision.
- "Can you add footage of my uncle's speech? He says it was filmed but it is not in the highlight." — If the footage was not captured on the day, it cannot be added in editing.
- "Can you re-edit the entire film with a different song and a different structure?" — This is a new project, not a revision.
- "I want all 400 images to be lighter, more vibrant, and with a completely different colour palette." — This is a full re-edit that changes our signature style.
Out-of-scope requests are not refused because we are unwilling to do the work. They are outside scope because they represent a fundamentally different product from what was booked. [POLICY: confirm exact wording on whether out-of-scope re-edits are available as a paid service]
Why 14 Days Is the Review Window
Fourteen days is a generous and reasonable timeframe. It gives you two full weekends and ten working days to review your work carefully, consult with family, and compile your feedback.
During this 14-day window, our editors hold your project in an active state. Other work is scheduled around the expectation that your feedback will arrive within this period. When clients respond promptly, the revision turnaround is fast because your project is already in our active queue.
After 14 days, your project moves out of the active queue and is considered delivered and accepted. This is not punitive — it is logistical. We continuously take on new projects, and we cannot hold production capacity open indefinitely for feedback that may never arrive.
If you need more time, simply tell us in writing before the window closes. We will accommodate reasonable extensions.
The "410 Messages" Problem
This is a pattern we have seen enough times to address directly: a client receives their gallery, and instead of compiling feedback into a single, structured document, they send dozens of individual WhatsApp messages over several days — sometimes totalling hundreds of messages — each containing a single comment, reaction, or request.
While we understand the excitement of reviewing your images, this approach creates serious problems:
- Individual messages are easy to miss or lose in a thread
- Contradictory feedback across different messages creates confusion
- Our editors cannot begin work until all feedback is received, so drip-fed comments delay the entire process
- The sheer volume makes it impossible to track which requests have been addressed
Please compile your feedback into one comprehensive document. A numbered list referencing specific images or timestamps is ideal. This ensures nothing is missed, nothing is contradicted, and our editors can work through your requests systematically.
What Happens After Your Revision Is Complete
Once your revised files are delivered, the project enters its final state. The 14-day download window applies to the revised files just as it did to the original delivery.
We do not offer unlimited iterative revision cycles. One round is included. If you have further feedback after receiving your revised files, please contact us to discuss options. Additional revision work beyond the included round may be available at an additional cost, subject to our production schedule and editorial discretion. [POLICY: confirm exact pricing for additional revision rounds]
How to Get the Best Result from Your Revision Round
The clients who are most satisfied with their revisions follow a consistent pattern:
-
They review thoroughly before responding. They do not fire off initial reactions. They watch their film multiple times. They browse their entire gallery. They take notes.
-
They submit one comprehensive document. Every request is in one place, clearly numbered, with specific references to images or timestamps.
-
They are specific about what they want. Instead of "I do not like image 34," they say "Image 34 — the crop feels too wide. Could you tighten it to a medium shot of just the couple?"
-
They respond within the window. Prompt feedback means their project stays in our active queue, resulting in faster turnaround.
-
They separate personal preference from genuine issues. A genuine issue is a technical problem — wrong exposure, missed crop, audio sync error. A personal preference is wanting a different colour palette or a different style. Understanding this distinction prevents frustration on both sides.
Our Commitment
We want you to be delighted with your delivered work. That is why we include a structured revision round — to catch any specific issues and refine the final product. Our editors treat every revision request with the same care and attention as the original edit.
But we also ask for your partnership in the process. Clear, timely, consolidated feedback is the foundation of a successful revision. When both sides communicate well, the result is work that you will be proud to share for years to come.
