Real Wedding: A Beautiful Sikh Celebration

This beautiful three-day Sikh wedding celebration was one of the most joyful events we've ever had the privilege of capturing. From the intimate Chunni ceremony to the grand reception, every moment was filled with love, laughter and vibrant tradition.

Day One: Chunni Ceremony & Mehndi

The celebrations began with the Chunni ceremony at the bride's family home, where the groom's family formally presented the bride with a red chunni (scarf), symbolising their acceptance of her into the family. The evening continued with a colourful Mehndi party featuring live dhol players, Bollywood dancing and stunning henna artistry.

Day Two: Anand Karaj at Gurdwara Singh Sabha

The Anand Karaj — the Sikh wedding ceremony — took place at the beautiful Gurdwara Singh Sabha. The ceremony centred around the Guru Granth Sahib, with the couple circling the holy book four times while the Lavan hymns were recited.

Key moments we captured included:

  • The Milni: The greeting ceremony between the two families outside the Gurdwara
  • Palla ceremony: The symbolic tying of the groom's palla to the bride's chunni
  • The four Lavans: Each circuit around the Guru Granth Sahib, capturing the emotion and devotion
  • Showering of petals: The joyful moment when guests shower the couple with flower petals

Day Three: Reception

The grand reception was held at a stunning venue decorated in shades of ivory and gold. The couple made a spectacular entrance to thunderous applause, followed by speeches, dinner and dancing late into the night.

The bride changed into a breathtaking red lehenga for the evening, providing wonderful contrast against the venue's neutral decor for our portrait session during golden hour.

Photographing Sikh Weddings

Sikh weddings hold a special place in our portfolio. The combination of deep spiritual tradition, vibrant colour and genuine family warmth creates incredible photography opportunities. We always ensure we respect the sanctity of the Gurdwara while capturing every precious moment.
